From Brittany via London, The Callstore aka Simon Bertrand trades in the baritone subtleties of Matt Berninger and the deadpan delivery of Aidan Moffat. Save No One is a work that’s certainly worth a go for fans of The National’s penchant for self pity.
Save No One is self-written, recorded and produced, with the fine discoveries that resulted from the circumstances of its making (the large majority of the drum sections were programmed on a PlayStation) is a compedium, a teeming universe, a great record, bruised and profound, that plays like an equilibrist on a tight rope.
